8/10Food was delicious and the staff very welcoming. The eggplant parmigiana melted in our palate, genovese pasta was juicy and the meat was extremely flavourful and tender, house wine was nice and fresh. When pretty busy there might be some waiting but nothing to worry too much about. Desserts are limited and shame they didn’t serve coffee to end the meal. Overall a positive experience.

9/10Staff was super friendly, food was great and the terrace on the street is small but exactly the kind of narrow Napoli street you want to try on your trip. You should try!

7.5/10Quite simple food in a nice ambience. We were not sure about the freshness of the swordfish but overall the food was ok. Thanks to the discount of the Fork our visit was cheap. The white house wine was very good taking into account that it cost only 7 EUR per bottle

5.5/10In the busy Spanish Quarter, on a Friday night, I was the only customer. Surprising, given how the reviews I had read were overwhelmingly positive and complimentary, making believe this was going to be a sure win. Don't know who was actually writing those reviews, but they must have been phantom ghost writers, if you ask me. While the Don certainly welcomed me, he offered little else but to propose the most common of all dishes, e.g., pasta and potatoes with cheese and bacon bits, eggplant parmesan, and maybe one other dish (I forget what). I took him up on the pasta/potato dish, which was good enough, though far from great. Then I decided to order off the menu and asked for the grilled swordfish. What came to my table just 5 minutes later was the skinniest imaginable filet, with zero flavor or even an attempt at herbs or spices, let alone some kind of sauce. Pitiful. As I was ending the truly disappointing fiasco of a meal (my last in Napoli, after 3 other much better dinners), a couple came in and got a table. They spoke Italian, and that seemed to change Mr. Maccarone's whole attitude. All of a sudden, he was talking up at least 8 or 10 dishes he suggested they might want to order, compared to the simplest possible offerings he deigned to offer me. While I'm not fluent in Italian/Napolese, I am fluent in 3 other languages so I could tell he was giving them much more favorable treatment than what he had given me. Not sure what Mr. M's problem is with tourists from another country, but you can't fix a broken kitchen, and if my experience with the swordfish was any indication, this place is to be strictly avoided. Your money would be far better spent at other restaurants. Sorry Mr. M, but your father "the great chef and great human" would be very disappointed.

7.5/10Overall, a really nice evening. The meatballs. were stellar and the pasta was also really nice. Sadly they had problems of supply, a lot of dishes were not available at the time. It is understandable becuase the weekend always brings a lot of tourism. Definetly recommend if you want a cheap, quick, nice example of neapolitan cuisine
