I always return to Barril Recoletos when I’m in Madrid. You can’t beat the combination of price, quality and value there. Their seafood menu is one of the best in town. Wonderful location in Salamanca

I’ve been going to this restaurant for years. It’s very consistent in the freshness of their fish. Try the fresh fish grilled or baked in a salt block. Probably have the best Ibérico ham croqueta in Madrid.

I ate a half portion of gallecian style octopus, which was excellent- meaty and not fatty, It was a bit too oily for me though - the potatoes were drowned actually - and this made me regret choosing fried anchovies as my second course, though in contrast these were lovely and light, just a whisp of crunchy batter on the outside. I finished with a green salad - perhaps I should have asked to dress it myself because although the oil was very good there was way too much. Overall very good And I would have said excellent if not for the overuse of oil.
