9/10Excellent service and ambience. Many of our dishes were excellent - especially the fish - but my steak was tough and very raw. Desserts were greeat and wne selection is very broad with something for every price range.

8.5/10Food was very good and service was good but not more. We booked a table on the terrasse, but it was very dirty, so we had a dinner inside where was quite cozzy. So, good restaurant, but nothing special. No need to go there because of terrasse but because of food yes.

4.5/10We were SAT unfer an air conditioning unit and had drops of wáter falling on the table during our meal. The food was very average and we were sure that the gazpacho was from a packet. My partner had a lubina which was full of bones and which was obviously not from a fresh fish.

9.5/10Fun open air seating facing the tree lined and charming San Vicente Martyr Street. It was hot, and we chose to sit in the interior. A narrow hallway with tables on one side facing shelves filled with wine bottles on the other. Impeccable white table cloths and wine glasses already on the table, an open invitation to any of the wines presented on the shelves on the opposite wall. No wine menu, just wines. Our server helped us to choose a wine among vintages from several regions in Spain to match our food order. Wines were priced from 13 Euros and above. We ordered artichoke hearts, ham croquettes as appetizers, followed by suckling lamb chops and veal for our main courses. Everything was well prepared and served at a good pace to allow for our full enjoyment of each stage. El Encuentro offered a casual dining experience in an excellent price performance range. Don't miss the artichoke hearts!

7.5/10Overall good experience, we expected to find traditional dishes, but we didn’t. Not such good quantities for portion. Menù in english and italian.

4/10We had expected an old fashioned place, with good food, but from the moment we arrived we knew we had made a mistake. The staff were unwelcoming, there was a tired, half dead tulip lying across our table (a gift?), and it was some time before we were given menus or spoken to at all. Two inedible cracker biscuits with some sort of cheese paste and some jam and a bruised grape on them were plonked on our table as an amuse-bouche - we didn’t eat them. We left as soon as we could, after some very mediocre food, and will not return. This place may once have been good but it seems to have lost its way.

9.5/10Wonderful restaurant and not at all touristy. Probably the best service we have had at any restaurant, ever. We had several attendants check on us throughout the evening to make sure all was well, including the chef. Our server Pilar was wonderful at explaining the dishes and very patient with us. The food was all delicious and my husband says it was the best foreign meal he has ever had. On Mondays in Valencia the fish isn't fresh so if you go that day prepare to order something besides fish. We had a few starters, and then my husband had the calamari and I had the oxen; would recommend both.

10/10Imaginative and tasty food. I had lovely mini clams in a piquant sauce, followed by rich, meaty ox-tail stew - a dish you see in too few restaurants. There is no wine list - you simply look at the bottles (which are all priced up) on the shelf and choose one, with the waiter's help if you want. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, a really enjoyable dining out experience.

10/10Great food at a reasonable price. The service was friendly and helpful and the selection of wines vast! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
