7.5/10Everything is good, except the bad experience I faced when I called for paying the bill. A service guy saw me calling for paying bill but ignored me twice. I don’t know if the guy is not responsible for my table and hence ignored me.

5/10Wasn’t too great . Calamari felt raw . Didn’t really think it was Michelin star worthy .

10/10For our first trip to Rome (and Italy), we wanted our first dinner to be a traditional Roman restaurant and this place hit all the right notes. The appetizers and dishes were among the finest we experienced, and the desserts were the best of our entire trip. I had tiramisu four times in a week and theirs was the winner--the texture was perfect and it was topped with a generous dusting of cocoa. My wife had a Roman cake (cannot remember the name) that she couldn't stop talking about all week. We highly recommend Hostaria da Cesare for experiencing traditional Roma food!

10/10Wonderful little restaurant with a wide variety of food options from pasta, pizza, fish or meats. The baked white fish with artichokes was excellent. The pasta was also well received. We intend to return this trip or next. Be sure to reserve.

5/10Recommended by one of our tour guides as a great local place, we were very eager to give it a try. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the food and even more disappointed in the service. The staff clearly was not welcoming to tourists (at least not to Americans). We sat and had to ask for almost everything while Italians dining around us were served quickly and with graciousness. Would not recommend this restaurant to travelers. Much better options available on Rome for great food and dining experience.

10/10Our table was waiting in a perfect location. Artichoke starter was amazing. Waiter suggested a nice Chianti (it is a Tuscan restaurant after all:). Both pastas were great. Cacio e Pepe and a lasagna special. Will return.

6.5/10When it came time to pay the bill there were three items on the list that we did not order, which could have resulted in an over-charge of 70 Euros. When we pointed out the discrepancy we were told it was a technical problem with there ordering system. I can understand, it happening with one item but three items seemed a bit out of line. To be honest, we walked away feeling like we just barely got out of the restaurant without being seriously overcharged. Also, when we pointed this out to the manager, he acted more like he was embarrassed that we caught them trying to cheat us, rather than being apologetic about the mistake. The food is good... but the not worth the risk of being cheated.

5.5/10We ate here 2 years and had excellent meals. This time our waiter seemed unhappy to be there. We tried to converse in English, but our orders were confused. Appetizer was delicious, but pasta carbonara was much too salty. 15 minutes after serving, our waiter reappeared to removed plates and found my pasta was uneaten. He apologized and did not charge me for it. We ordered a bottle of rose' when we arrived, and a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino with our second course. The glassware in which the rose' was served was quite nice, but the Brunello was served in clunky, thick, cheap wine glasses. I understand why it no longer has a Michelin listing.

5/10We waited more than 40min for our dishes after asking 3 times about them. Waiter seems to be lost, kids were angry. I suspect the ticket did not make it to the kitchen as all the tables around us who arrived later were served before us. The manager came to apologize with a smile without any particular gesture. The carbonara had way too much black pepper. I do not recommend. The old (and dirty) menu is very confusing. Disappointing experience.

10/10I visited this restaurant after reading a Japanese blog. I had high expectations because of the very good reviews, but it was a wonderful shop that lived up to my expectations. The service was friendly and the food was delicious! If you come to Rome again, I definitely want to visit you.
