Super service and ambiance. Food decidedly overpriced and overrated: the seafood antipasto fresh but not remarkable, decidedly overpriced; the fried porcini we ate were … , just take them off the menu please, fresh would be much better; the gazpacho was a free interpretation but failed to impresse. Sorry! Light point: a very good wine list.

Beautiful evening sitting outside at this charming and wonderful restaurant in the village of Monte San Savino. The food was excellent and the service even better. Would highly recommend.

Who knew this unassuming store front would have such a lovely restaurant underneath. Food was excellent. Homemade pasta, tender beef and great wine selection. Would definitely recommend.

This was a recommendation by a local and it did not disappoint! We shared several dishes and were so impressed. First, the food was outstanding. The chingale (wild boar) pasta was a hit, and then the saffron pasta with almonds was unique and light. The seafood pasta was cooked perfectly and served with plenty of clams and muscles that were cooked perfectly; not overdone or overcooked. The homemade brown bread was wonderful and the red wine from Montalcino was too good to pass up. What was astonishing was that every table in the restaurant was taken on a Monday night and only 2 servers were servicing and they were totally on top of it. Our salads came out quickly and were so fresh and the service was exceptional all around; quick and friendly. Compliments to the chef, who seemed to work solo and whipped up some of the best food we have had in many years. Bravo!

We live part of each year in Monte San Savino and have dined @ L' Altruista from the first days. It maintains its high quality and lovely ambience. The staff is welcoming and helpful although the service was a bit less smooth than normal - but not a big deal. The food came right on time. So glad to be able to dine out in Italy again and especially at this restaurant - we highly recommend it!
