7.5/10If you are also tea lover thing fist before to book this restaurant. The service was was really good, One of the waiters could explain in English which is very big plus. The portions of food was small and too oily at least mine ( I ordered cabbage velvet with leek). One minus it that they don’t have hot tea, that’s for me very critical because I don’t drink alcohol and I love tea. For the dessert they don’t have written menu they said that they say only verbally. Also dessert was delicious a bit difficult to cut but tasty ( I ordered Linate ( dark chocolate with a bit of caramel internal side and covered with white chocolate) . If you eat small portions for you will be enough.

10/10We tried out L'Assommoir Ristorante and it was really a splendid. From the start Nicolo made us feel welcome and comfortable. As the evening progressed he also chatted with us in English. The menu offered a variety of terrific selections, interesting combinations of ingredients among the offerings for cicchetti, antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci. We decided to startj things off with the two gyoza offerings, one with vegetable filling and one with meat. Before those came to the table Nicolo brought out a welcoming amuse-bouche, a curry-mayonnaise wrapped with a leaf of kale. The gyoza were appetizing and the taste was quite satisfying. My bride and I share tastes of each of them and they both were flavorful. For the primo course my wife selected the risotto with pumpkin, pecorino cream and rosemary lard. She found it tasty and a nice combination of flavors. My primo was the beet ravioli filled with gorgonzola served with cubes of pears. The flavor combinations of my dish were divine! The wine list offered a nice Primitivo by San Marzano which Nicolo offered us by the glass. I opted to also order a secondo: veal cheek, braised in Barbera red wine and served with creamed potatoes. If my primo was already something special I thought this was spectacular! The veal was tender and perfectly prepared, the sauce was rich as packed plenty of flavor without overwhelming the meat. And the potatoes were equally well prepared. Definitely happy with this dish. After all that we let ourselves get tempted by the dessert listing. Only one of the four desserts is self-explanatory, the apple pie. The others have the following names: nebbia (fog), lingotto (ingot), and autunno (autumn). Nicolo gave us the rundown on the dishes and we opted for the fog and the ingot as they each sounded intriguing. The fog is brownie topped with a panna cotta served with some strawberries and then all topped with white cotton candy! That may sound odd but if you look at the photos you see that it looks like you are being served a dish of fog!!! The ingot was a block shape with a filling of fondente and ganache, surrounded by white chocolate and served with a salted caramel sauce. The look of it is architectural indeed. My wife and I both enjoyed the nebbia, with its variety of tastes and textures. It’s kind of fun to break apart the cotton candy, a childhood treat. We did find the ingot somewhat too much on the sweet side but that’s a matter of personal taste. Definitely a delicious evening with my wife, I’d recommend L’Assommoir wholeheartedly.
