The FADO singers were terrific, quick dining service. The food was fine. I went for the music and was not disappointed. It was a great experience.

The food was acceptable but not exceptional. The fado was performed for only about 20–30 minutes, intermittently, with long pauses in between during which there wasn’t even background music. Organization and communication were very poor. Expensive and disappointing.

The food, atmosphere, and food were fantastic!

They didn’t have my reservation on file so they sat me upstairs where I couldn’t see the musicians. As I solo travelled this was the only reason I came.

honestly, it is a shame. the place is super pretty and has a nice charme and the fado was beautiful. BUT - charging you 70 EUR for a "menu" that includes a few tapas, one main dish and a small dessert and the housewine is really ridicuolous. Absolutely not Lisbon prices. You can get the same quality of food in a tasca paying 60% less than that. On top of that, one of the waiters (the tall guy with the braids) was extremely rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. We weren't done finishing the wine and he comes to the table with the payment machine pressuring us to pay because we had to leave as the 2nd round of guests would come. He didn't even bother to say this in a friendly and polite tone. Also throughout the dinner he was very short-tempered, rushed and not friendly at all. I live in lisbon since many years and haven't experienced such bad behaviour ever. Unfortunately we will not be back

The staff were so welcoming and attentive!!! Food, wine, and fado entertainment were most excellent. We loved it!!!

Very disappointing! Skimpy food and very little FADO! We were looking forward to FADO. The reservation said 1.5 hour total duration of reservation. We arrived at 21:30 as required, but FADO did not even begin until about 1.25 hours after our arrival. Only 3 short songs, and then a very long break until about 23:20 when there were 4 Fado songs by the same person, and then nothing after. We were told there will be more, but after waiting until after midnight, we finally gave up and left. About 2/3 of the other customers also had had left by midnight because we got tired of waiting! The food portions were extremely small. Don't go there for food! Dessert and appetizers were terrible. Main course was OK, but extremely small! Service was bizzar! The table next to us had all their 3 courses done before they served us. Lots of time gap with no food or FADO! For 70 Euro, this was absolutely not worth it!!! Very disorganized.

A hidden gem for experiencing the soul of Fado in an intimate, candlelit embrace.

Each staff member was so gracious and welcoming. The food was delicious and the Fado performers were extremely talented. I left around midnight as I was a single girl traveling alone and was unsure of the safety in the city at nighttime but the manager invited me back the following evening and waited outside until my Bolt driver arrived. Highly recommend!! And a great value for the price (food, drink, and performance).

The music was excellent. Heartbreaking and beautiful set in a building with more history than it is possible to imagine. It was the perfect place to experience this art. The food was ok. The wine was great. It was our first fado and we left happy and satisfied though my husband didn't love his meal.

I was at Mesa de Frades ten years ago. There was a better menu and a friendlier atmosphere and contact with fadistas, which was not there this time. The Fado itself was amazing. I would like to know the name of the gentleman who sang at the beginning.

Good food, fado and atmosphere. Unfortunately dinner wasn't actually served until 10.30, 11.00.

The food is good and the entertainment is excellent. The environment is a little bit loud sometimes. We have a superb time at dinner tonight. 😊

The music was wonderful, as were the tapas and wine. The entree choices, however, did not match the descriptions on the menu and the servings we got were not adequate for a typical dinner -- not filling enough for two young men, my grandsons -- puny, skinny steaks. Unlike the menu description, only two desserts were offered -- chocolate mousse and a "Portuguese dessert" not even on the menu. That turned out to be raw egg on a plate with orange peels and cinnamon stirred in. I suspect that they ran out of food and made something up. Maybe some natives consider that a treat, but they should have described it to us.
