5.5/10Restoration is positioned in small old city with good view. This was our fourth restaurant in Tuscany, but service and price quality ratios was very bad. Dishes was only interesting but nothing more. Service was slow and with lots mistakes.

5.5/10The restaurant location was lovely. We were seated by our host who unfortunately was not very warm or welcoming. Half of any dining experience is the interaction between the host and the guests. The gentleman serving some other tables was engaging and friendly. Our lady server was not. We left the restaurant after paying the bill unfortunately remembering the poor atmosphere caused by our lady waitress and not the food

10/10This restaurant had a varied menu of great choices. We enjoyed eggplant flan appetizer, potato gnocchi with a fabulous fresh twist of pesto which included mint, 12 hr slow cooked duck and roasted potatoes & spinach which were very well prepared and seasoned. Dessert was amazing too! Highly recommend also for attentive service, wine options and ambiance!

9/10THis was flagged up on the Fork as a vegetarian friendly restuarant, however, the normal menu have only 2 or 3 items in all! They are able toi prepare more with advance notice. However, the staff are lovely and very helpful, the food we had was good and setting is wonderful, especially the terrace. Worth a visit in Trequanda, Tuscany.

8/10This restaurant which also offers a "vinoteca" (which is very well equipped), or perhaps the other way around, was great for a delightful evening. Due to the possibility of booking online with instant confirmation, the reservation process was easy and very pleasant. The service was good and attentive when present. The owner personally took care of us, most of the time, and served as our personal sommelier. The food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. The food was good. I would give it a 3.5/5 overall. Especially the bruschetta with their “personal” olive oil and the steak with three varieties of salt are worth a try. Thank you for the evening!

About this restaurant
Il Conte Matto si trova nel cuore del borgo medievale di Trequanda. Il locale, gestito da David Arrigucci assieme alla famiglia da oltre vent'anni, sorge all'interno della palazzina del «Guardiacaccia» del Castello medievale e propone piatti tipici della tradizione senese ma anche qualche invitante rivisitazione. Prodotti genuini di un territorio ricco non solo dal punto di vista paesaggistico, sono gli ingredienti base di un menù che, agli immancabili classici come la Ribollita, i pici al ragù di anatra e il cinghiale al dolceforte, alterna anche la terrina di fegatini d'anatra marinati al Vin Santo con cipolle caramellate oppure il filetto di chianina con composta di fichi secchi e noci. La pasta è fatta in casa direttamente dalle mani della nonna di David: da provare gli gnocchi verdi ai carciofi con burro fuso alla menta e i pici alle briciole. Tra i secondi il must è rappresentato dal cinghiale in dolceforte, una specialità della zona che al Conte Matto viene rielaborata da un'antica ricetta. Alla cucina piace infatti spaziare per sorprendere i propri clienti con menù in grado di scoprire le tradizioni locali ma anche di uscire un po' dagli schemi, come ad esempio avviene con il menù basato su pietanze più creative. A seconda della stagione è possibile assaggiare anche piatti cucinati con verdure fresche, come asparagi, carciofi ma soprattutto tartufo, che da queste parti è noto come il «marzolo» delle Crete Senesi.
