The service at Animal during my visit with four others was shockingly bad. The floor manager was doing everything—taking orders, clearing tables, handling payments—while two young staff members ran around with zero idea what they were doing. Basic requests were forgotten repeatedly: the floor manager even forgot a steak knife twice, leaving the food getting cold. But the young woman with short hair was on another level of incompetence. I asked her THREE times for the bill, and she still stood around helplessly because she didn’t even know how their own POS system worked. When she finally brought the bill, I gave her €100 immediately. She owed me €10 change and simply vanished. No sign of her, no change, no explanation. After ten minutes I had to get up, go to the register myself, and complain just to get my money back. Utterly chaotic, unprofessional, and one of the worst service experiences I’ve had in Lisbon. Take your money and go to other restaurants, this area has plenty of them.

10/10Our lunch was very pleasant. The service was super, they had our reservation and as we arrived early in the lunch hour we had our choice of tables. We had a wonderful view of the garden. The menu has some marvelous choices, I chose the grilled lettuce starter which was outstanding. My partner had the entrecôte, which was delicious. As it was the day after St. Martinho, we were offered roasted chestnuts as an extra, really nice. I highly recommend this place.

The food was fantastic but the service even better. João and Mafalda served us. They were knowledgable about the dishes, they smiled all the time and made my partner’s birthday extra special by bringing out cake. Mafalda even sung Happy Birthday. To the Manager of Animal, Please look after them as they are fantastic. So was Fabio and Carolina.

6.5/10The Terrasse atmosphere was really nice - a feeling of escape in a tropical garden. Fish ceviche was delicious, as well as crunchy bread. However, food quality disappointed me. Main dishes were extremely salty - I could not finish them and required a plenty of water. As I booked with an offer and shared the booking in advance, I expected to get a bill considering the discount. It was unfortunately not the case - we needed to point this out after seeing the bill. There was also a 5% tip included in the bill as a “recommended” amount. I assume a tip is a voluntary thank-you for a good service. Overall I remained hungry, thirsty and with a feeling of being tricked.
