The ambiance and service are excellent. The waiters were excellent with service at a level that is hard to find today. The food was very good, had a traditional cod dish and grilled octopus. Oysters were excellent. Will definitely go back in the future.

We were looking for a typical Portuguese dining experience and were recommended Restaurant Sancho. First impression on arrival was pleasing but the over attentive nature of staff left us feeling that decisions of menu choice and wine were made for us rather than letting us choose freely ….. it wasn’t after all, “table d’hôte” or a restaurant “taster” menu. No complaints about the quality of the food nor the pared wine that was indeed selected for us. Opportunity to decide on dessert was a rushed affair with a rather “fast” trolley, all of which looked delicious but we don’t do dessert as a rule. We considered a “porto” and were offered the waiter’s choice rather than a recommendation from the list. We declined but were given a complimentary vintage, perhaps to ease any misunderstanding? On the bill, there was a significant cover charge plus one for cheese on the table upon arrival despite the menu stating otherwise unless ordered by the customer. A bitter sweet experience overall.

Food was excellent. We had early reservations so noise was moderate. Two servers for room of 12 tables. Server was assertive on what dishes he wanted you to order. Attentive when food was coming out, but very hard to get his attention as tables filled. We waited 30 minutes to get bill after getting his attention.

Good environment, very good service. What is not good is to be charged at the end for olives and water with not advise. Something that should be remediated in benefit of the restaurante qualification.

Mediocre food, nothing special. From the moment we arrived one of the waiters was just rude. We were made to feel as though we were an inconvenience. Really off putting and disappointing. Not much of an atmosphere either.

A fabulous hidden gem of a restaurant. First class service, nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have a good quality Portuguese meal and fantastic service at incredibly reasonable prices

Sancho is right off the lovely Av. da Liberdade in the heart of Lisbon. It's a charming space with impeccable service and delicious food. We were delighted with our meal and would definitely recommend it!

Maybe I still don't "get" traditional portugiese cuisine but everything I ate hier was quite dull and mediocre. The food is very plain and it is done without any imagination or inspiration.
