Well, the bowl with noodles was very good, the chicken soup absolutely not (in my taste personally). They don’t have baby changing table in the restaurant, for this place is no baby friendly then, the service was good, very smiling person that served us. And, the box with soap in the toilet has bugs in it. Disgusting.

Thank you for your review and thank you for flagging the soap container. The toilets are cleaned twice daily at least, so it is strange. There is also always a separate hand sanitiser soap on the hand wash basins for guest to use. However, it is being investigated. There is a baby changing table which is waiting to get fitted to the wall, we apologise that on your visit, it had not yet been fitted. In the meantime, we always provide one upon request. We have many families coming to our establishment and many babies with them too. We never had any issues with parents with baby changing needs in the past.. As for the food, I suppose you are referring to the soto ayam? This is a typical Indonesian street food soup with rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, chicken leg (we use deboned), tomato and egg in an Indonesian chicken broth. It has been a very popular dish but we realise it isn't to everyone's taste; especially if too much sambal (chilli sauce) is added.

Ambience of a University canteen. Students taking up whole tables with work, ordering a tea or something every couple of hours. Young mothers with babies. Had to clean our seats/table of crumbs etc. when we arrived. Service pretty slow. Quality of cooking was pretty dire, most of it was at best lukewarm at worst stone cold. Beef Rendang - a dish I honestly thought I'd have a chance of them getting right - consisted of cheap cuts of beef that hadn't been cooked long enough and so were tough, re-heated to just lukewarm. The "sauce" had completely dried to the meat, so there was no liquid at all in the bowl, meaning having to have a drink with every mouthful. I know the sauce should be reduced to a minimum but it shouldn't be like powder. The cold dry rice didn't help either. Maybe this is a preferable alternative to some student-home-food but I don't think it had anything to do with what is eaten in West Sumatra. In short, a "Student" café with free wi-fi, where you can have a drink and, if you are hungry enough, a bowl of rice and things. Very disappointed.

I'm reviewing this review because honestly it is a complete and utter load of b**l*cks. You came in December and decided to spew out a hissy fit 2 months later. We're a family friendly place and it is none of your business if there are students and or mothers with babies here. We didn't force you to come and we are not responsible for you pathological hatred for women, kids and students. (every two hours..!! what utter tosh) Stirling advice mate, sling your hook and find a safe space elsewhere.

We discover this restaurant around May, when it just opened. It was such a great surprise, that we came back as soon as we could (considering that we live abroad, 6 months is not too much ;) ). Gladly surprised they only grow better. Food was as good as we remembered. The personnel is welcoming, nice, always with a smile. Wish you all the best. It won’t be my last time on this trip. But, if this review worths for something, I can’t help recommending it strongly !

Thank you for your nice words. We're happy you came and look forward to seeing you again soon. Team Caffè Batavia.
