I have been a loyal customer for nearly eight years and have recommended this restaurant to everyone I know in Brussels. Unfortunately, my visit this past Saturday was a major disappointment. Bringing international friends here, I was embarrassed by the food quality; it has declined significantly. Some dishes resembled low-quality friterie food, though, frankly, the local friteries taste better. Many items, particularly the cheesecake, felt mass-produced rather than homemade. I’m not sure what has changed, but it was a very letdown.

9/10Very well located. Nice staff. We had the mussels with fries. Nice portions and Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant is a bit noisy.

8.5/10Mixed dishes are very good. It includes dessert. But there was no drink with the desert. If it also includes some tea or coffee with the dessert, it becomes perfect.

10/10As we remembered it from 25 years ago when we lived in Rue St Catherine. Only remark I would make is that the chairs are hard.

6.5/10You have to search out these unspoilt traditional type bistro restaurants now. This one doesn't disappoint, although non meat & fish eaters might struggle. Not a problem for us.

9.5/10If you always go into a restaurant experience in a relaxed and enthusiastic frame of mind, then the dining experience will reward your positivity. The staff at Bij den Boer were lovely and the food was superb. I can heartily recommend the foie gras and my partner very much enjoyed her corvina (both on the €24 lunch menu.) All four of our party walked away from BdB happy to have eaten there for our last meal in a fabulous trip to Brussels.
