The food and wine are excellent here. Sometimes a large group will come in and cause a heavy workload on the wait staff. This happened on our second visit and we waited almost an hour after our reservation time to be served. Our waiter was very apologetic and the food was worth the wait. The pasta was very tasty and not undercoooked as it has been in several restaurants we have experienced. The Modus Nobili wine is excellent and not overpriced. They do a good job on their meat dishes also, such as the Fiorintine steak.

We were a group of six and had booked in advance. We were provided a table right in front of the door despite other tables in the restaurant being free. We were not provided a wine menu in the beginning and had to ask for it separately. We had ordered 5 starters - the egg dish with asparagus was nice, the platter of cheese and cold meat was underwhelming ( possibly the meat slices were cut way too earlier than when they were served to us ), the terrine felt too sweet and it felt like neither a terrine or pate, the raw chianina beef tasted nice but way too much was slapped on the plate for a starter. Fortunately my son did enjoy eating half of it. The most disappointing was the quality of the T-Bone steak. It lacked flavor, was served way too cold and didn't have the amount of fat we are used to see in Fiorintina. While serving the starter ( which had both beef and pork dishes) the waiter started talking in our native language ( bengali ) and with a very surprised look asked whether we actually ate pork since according to him not many people ( hinting on our background ) actually eat pork. It was an extremely biased comment that ruined everyone's mood. The wine in our glasses wasn't topped up either and we refilled our glasses on our own. At the end we were so disgusted with the experience we just wanted to leave. It felt suffocating sitting there and waiting for the bill. Am surprised this restaurant has so many goid reviews. We later checked that on google a lot if the positive reviews have been provided by local guides which I always take with a pinch of salt.

Tucked into a side-street off Piazza de La Independenzia, this is a truly interesting option for dinner. The food was some of the best we had on our trip in Tuscany - simple, but super savoury and very well executed. A highlight for me was the tagliolini filled with ricotta and parmesan in a perfect pesto sauce. The wine list is also well-chosen and extensive, but be warned: it has been comprehensively pilfered by eagle-eyes tourists. Also disappointing was the fact that the wines are not served at the right temperature. The Enoteca has amazing bottles, but you have to wonder how they have been stored. The lady owner was really warm and attentive but the other staff was largely disinterested and gave out the impression they didn’t want to be there.
