Being foodies we are always searching for hidden gems. Michaela the owner’s personality was the star of the show, only matched by his wife’s cooking. Everything homemade! And delicious!! Plus the complimentary amaro was a real treat. Would definitely look forward to a return visit.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. We went three times during our two week stay and wish we could go more. The owner, Michel and his wife, Anita, are the best chefs and their waitstaff, especially Sam, is the best! I felt like a family member! The wine, the bread, the salads, the porcini mushroom pasta, the veal saltimbocca, the fish—everything is delicious. Please give this a try, and this is coming from an Italian who grew up in the restaurant business in Chicago.

We were seated right away. It was quiet street and outdoor seating was pleasant. Well the still or sparking water both served in plastic bottles. Not so impressive. It took forever to get our two glasses of wine. But that was just the beginning. We ordered caprese insalata and took so lingvwecfindlly asked could've please get that prior to pasta (we ordered gnocchi). He finally did bring it. No need to worry about it coming before gnocchi. That took another 45 minutes! And it was tasteless. Seriously not good. Not cooked well and the sauce was flavorless. It reminded me of spaghetti'O in a can. I have no idea how this got all these good reviews. I don't typically leave a bad review but since you asked...
Lucca in TavolaHello dearest Mr. Jan, I'm sorry you warrant Happy , yesterday Sep 23 we had 40 people seated in aur restaurant, could happen that the waiter , who is very kind, made a mistake instead bringing you the Gnocchi ( Homemade) first he brought a Caprese salad first , well with 40 people mistakes can happen , we are human, Don't forget your reservation was respected , you sat yes outside but you had a table for 4 pers. . for you und your wife ,and think dear Mr. Jan that we receive thousands of people from all over the word and whit culture , even culinary culture,, I don't think Mr. Jan that these people are so stupid? I'm sorry , it's not like You think , We prepare everything fresh with excellent products . with love and passion, dear Jan , Anyway , maybe it was for you a strange evening . The food, delicious! The service, super attentive and friendly. The ambience, warm a typical. Everything was great. Extra kudos for offering gluten free options. The waiter was super helpful and caring about that. Highly recommended! I’ll definitely come back.

The forces superb. The owner was beyond delightful. Great ambience. The restaurant had been highly recommended by friends and I am so happy I listened. Not only that they did not try to rush us out the door. A lively 2-3 hour meal was most enjoyable. This is a must try if you are in Lucca.

By far the best restaurant I have visited during my 4-day visit to Lucca. The food was excellent. It was quiet, given the time of year, but the owner and the waiter were exceptionally friendly and when I explained that I was learning Italian, they did everything they could to help me along my way. Such a lovely experience. Thank you!
