We had friends visiting from the US and after a few weeks in Portugal had a serious desire for great Mexican food. My wife and I had been to Carnal many times and knew it was a can't miss experience. From the eclectic decor, friendly environment and stunning food and margaritas we had an amazing evening.

Honestly one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to! Apart from extremely tasty, the food is uniquely fresh and different to typical Mexican fare. Service is also pretty on the ball.

The restaurant's decor is very nice. The food is terrible. No one from the Chiefs has ever been to Mexico, especially not Micheline's food testers. Chiefs try to cook Mexican food, but the result has little to do with Mexico. The pico de gallo was okay, the rest was indefinable. Chipotle and green chili sauces taste total difference, and the rest too. And the marguerita was sweet with a salty rim. No fresh lemon. Brrrrr. A recommendation from Michelin cannot have been made legally.

We had a lovely time at Carnal. Our waiter had excellent recommendations, the food was superb and our drinks were refreshing and creative. We’d love to go back!

The food at the restaurant was not very good, and the drinks were ok. Everything was grossly over priced for what you get. We tried 80% of the menu, and nothing impressed. I don't know how this place got a Michelin recognition, not only is it not special, it was generally bad. The only thing that was good was the service. As a final note we are Mexican/Americans who know what good Mexican food is, and this isn't it.

Prawns were very fishy and the language barrier made the ordering a bit difficult. We tried to order 3 orders of tacos but the waiter misunderstood and ordered us 6. When it came to the table we explained the misunderstanding and the staff wouldn’t take it off the bill. Tacos were okay for how expensive they were.

Great location and great price. Service, ambiance and cocktails solid. Really wanted to like the food. Some of the flavors in a dish too bold and couldn't appreciate other flavors. Steak/beef dry. Tuna and pork were great. Dishes could be a bit simplified.
