Found that the restaurant had lights off. Staff saw me but no one cared. Had to go to the front desk to be told that the only food was in the pub. In the pub, no one greeted me. Caught a waiter who barely spoke English and was clearly annoyed to have a customer. He told me to sit anywhere and gave me a menu. The menu basically had hamburger or pizza. After 5 minutes no waiter came for my order (there were several servers in a quite limited space, with about 10 diners present). So I left.

It is a cozy restaurant with very friendly service and a nice atmosphere. The menu was a bit too limited for our taste. It is fine to have dinner in combination with an overnight stay in the hotel, but if you are staying for several days you probably will look for alternatives.

It was a very pleasant meal. The only problem we had is that they were expecting a table of 45 people so, when the table arrived, they completely forgot about the service to our table. This has to be addressed when you are expecting this number of persons.

It was our first visit to De Palmboom and everything was to our satisfaction: food, service and ambience. Probably the only disappointment was my starter of smoked beef salad which had only three tiny slivers of beef, some lettuce and hardly any dressing. To their credit, the staff immediately brought more dressing upon request. We will definitely return.
