This restaurant was recommended to me. However I was extremely disappointed. I had 9pm reservations but showed up early. I was able to sit but was never given menus. Then I had to ask for a server. I watched three other tables who came after me get water before me. My drinks did not arrive until 9:40pm and the pizza came at 10pm. They forgot to bring out my app and salad. We wound up paying for pizza and leaving. I work in the restaurant industry so this was very disappointing.

The waiters were very welcoming. The drinks & pizze were savoury. We were sat in the entry patio, which settled us in a warm, cool and modern atmosphere. I highly recommand the place.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was impeccable. Our server help us select a wine that was more suitable for our pizzas! Out of all the pizzas in Florence, this is the best one. You must try the special/seasonal pizzas, they were so fresh, the burrata was melt in your mouth. Their more creative pizzas, the one with the tartare, delicious! I was worried at first, but the dough was perfectly fried, fluffy and crunchy. Hidden gem! Even though we got a discount on our bill from Fork reservation, we would have easily paid full price for our meal. Amazing!

Andrew greeted us warmly, gave us options where to sit, was attentive without overcrowding us during the meal. From start to finish the experience was wonderful. The pizza's were ordered were delicious, as was the local beer. The place has a great vibe, is well located when touring around central Florence and incredible food. Thank you Andrew and all the staff at Hortus.

This is our second visit. This time I had the calzone and a nice tall cold beer. My husband had a pizza and it was perfect. Once again we sat in the elegant, comfortable courtyard. Being a Friday night, the place was bustling. It is so warm and friendly place with wonderful food. They are such welcoming hosts you don’t feel like a patron you feel like a friend.

Well executed Roman style pizze. I personally like a bit less tomato on my Margherita (buflina), otherwise top. Cornicione perfect for me, some crunch but soft inside. Your preferences may vary. Nice team.
