5.5/10We have visited many times but unfortunately were dissappointed on this occasion. We were slightly late and unable to ring to let them know. the reception did point this out and then did not want us to sit at a different table to that which was suggested. My wife has a hearing imparement and location is important luckily this decicion was overruled by a more senior female staff member ( I recognized her she has been there for many years ) we would have left if table had not been altered. The food is usually fine but the baked potatoes were barely warm- may have been standing for a time.

10/10We dined here our final night in Venice, and were so pleased we did. The setting was beautiful, right on the lagoon, with the sun setting over the water. The staff were efficient and unobtrusive, the food was excellent -- from seafood to pasta to dessert, with vin santo to finish the evening. Highly recommend.

6/10Perhaps it's because of our absolutely stellar dinner the night before at another restaurant, but La Calcina proved to be severely disappointing. The ambiance is beautiful and elegant and the service was excellent ... but the food? Totally forgettable and not at all worth their high prices. Unimaginative ... nothing really stood out ... and boring (sorry!). There was nothing on the menu that really appealed to us so we sampled two antipasti, a Caesar salad, a pasta dish and a soup. All plates were removed with at least 50% of the meal uneaten. It was quite sad, especially since we were staying at the hotel for three nights. Sorry, but we would never recommend La Calcina's restaurant.

4.5/10Such a beautiful spot, such a terrible service! First the could not find our reservation, after waiting 5 minutes they finally did. We had a dirty tablecloth one one side of the table (we were 5) after they told us to go sit on the other side! We ordered 2 pasta vongole and they brought us 2 pasta pomodore and they argued that we were wrong! They finally brought us right dish. We had to ask (wave) for everything every time we wanted something. Beatifull spot with terrible service. They should minimal get rid of waiter marco, waste of space…never again!

6.5/10We have stayed here several times over the last 10 years this time we did not, too expensive. However as we loved the hotel when it was a Pensione , now a hotel and the Place did not have the same vibe. The location for dinner on the terrace over the water is idyllic we had the breaded chicken fillet, very disappointing as the meat seemed to us formed of minced chicken the fillets were exactly the same size, perhaps frozen ? The rest of the meal was ok don't think we will re visit. Shame.

6/10Stunning location on the canal with wonderful views, Pleasant enough food served reasonably quickly. But absolutely charmless, surly service spoiled it.

9.5/10Charming and elegant, directly on a main canal (not the Grand Canal). Menu options were delicious if not exhaustive. Probably better for romance than a boisterous family - at least in winter when the seating was (by choice) indoors. Friendly, professional staff. No complaints about anything!

4/10The beef carpaccio salad was served frozen. It was horrible. The orange juice was very watery. There was no olive oil in the bottle. Overall, a very disappointing experience. We didn't bother to get a dessert as we didn't want more food done badly

4/10Very disappointed by the service, the food, and the virtually complete lack of attention. The first course was of a reasonable standard however we were left waiting for 25 minutes before the second. Course arrived. There was no waiter attention during our first course. The second course was bland, and of small portion size. Again we were ignored by the waiting staff and left without ordering dessert. The meal with wine cost 130€. Shocking! Will never dine here again - and we were residents in their hotel!!!

9/10This place was really nice! I really loved the set up of it all and the service was great . Only thing I didn’t quite like was the flavor of the fried seafood , there was none it was very plane. The fish was so fresh and so good so was quite disappointed the batter they use to fry with had no seasoning . On the other hand the grilled fish was just with salt pepper and oil and it was amazing. So mainly fried dishes were disappointing . Expect to pay some money to go here as well .

7/10Probably the most romantic and interesting location ever and food excellent. Only reservation was the service was not particularly friendly, had booked in advance and mentioned it was a special occasion. There was no mention of this and despite spending £122 on a lunch for 2 there was not a flutter of thanks or a liquor you usually get at the end. So if going for the view and food etc go for it, to be made to feel special forget it....

6.5/10I made a reservation with special offert- i payed for decoration on the tabel with a rose. But the time we hade a reservation, nothing have be done and no excuse!

4.5/10Service was busy - with cleaning other tables , didn't ask once how you like the food or need anything else????. Kitchen was much better years ago, but all in all nice seating.
