We decided to try out Osteria Moderna before going to a concert close to Leidseplein. This restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood within easy walking distance from Leidseplein and Museumplein. They serve a Chef’s Menu and we were asked to share any dietary restrictions in advance. Due to the good reviews and rating we arrived with high expectations. We enjoyed the food and service and there were no major flaws, but we haven’t experienced any real highlights either. We received a promotional discount via The Fork, which resulted in a fair price for the food and service we received. If we would have paid the full price, I would have rated our experience as “average”.

Lovely small neighborhood restaurant that delivers high quality feeling and attention to the food. I liked that we were called earlier in the day to find out if we had any food restrictions (which we did, no meat) and so when we got there all the courses were prepared according to our wishes without having to discuss that at the table. It gave a really nice feeling of special service. the wine pairings were delicious although a bit pricey at 10 euros per glass for a rather small pour. The food was excellent, the only issue was that the main course was a bit salty overpowering the fish. we will come again for sure!
