6/10When we couldn't communicate well in our limited French, we ordered the wrong thing for my wife, which I ate and which was distinctly mediocre. I had 18 oysters, 6 of which were really good, 6 medium, and 6 just barely qualifying as seafood. It seems that we had a serious communications breakdown that they did not care about. This is the same in a lot of neighborhood restaurants in the 14e. They don't depend on or cater to the tourist trade, and when they come across a couple of extremely knowledgeable seafood eaters who are not francophones, they just treat you poorly. I lived in the 14e thirty years ago and it's reassuring to know that it's the same bad story in some restaurants keeping up the tradition of mistreating people who are potentially their best customers.
