10/10Le Carre du Palais has become our favorite restaurant in Avignon. The food is outstanding checking all the boxes for flavor, creativity & stunning presentation. Service is very friendly, professional & timely but not rushed. Highly recommend

8/10There were two of us and we had two courses each with matched wines. Everything was well presented and fine except for one course which was a risotto. Unfortunately the risotto had either been over cooked or had waited much too long in the kitchen. By the time it reached the table it was a heavy pudding, with the rice grains cooked away to a general stodge. The elements with it, for example prawns, were quite separate rather than part of the whole effect, as might have been expected.

8/10Location is beautiful. Service was fast. Food was well cooked but did not make a lot of sense. Got different dishes (fish, cheese mouse, meat) and they all had same random sauces on them that didnt go well with the main ingredient or with each other. The main ingredients were well cooked but the dishes were designed to look good and not to have the best flavour. Said that given the location and excelent service is worth a visit.

5/10The food was overfussy with too many elements on the plate. My risotto was stodgy and heavy which I couldn't eat. Apparently, there is an Italian chef but he wasn't working that night! But of course, it was Sunday evening.... The outside space was pleasant but overall I didn't enjoy this experience; our first in Avignon. It was poor value for money.

+1Tucked inside the historic Palais des Papes square, Le Carré du Palais delivers not just a meal, but a moment. The location is superb, surrounded by Avignon’s architectural grandeur, with a terrace that lets you linger under the Provençal light. The food was great, reasonably priced. Although the wine bottle of Gigondas I ordered was disappointing, the waiter suggested that we could return. Eventually I did not. Since i did not he offered me 2 glasses of Hermitage. I cannot ask for more. We ordered the Grand Menu- Entrée+Plat+Dessert.
