My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. Lobster Risotto and Sole Meuniere were very memorable. The server asked whether we wanted sparkling water or still water. We asked for still water. When the bill came, we were charged 40 francs for two bottles of water. I was quite surprised but did not complain as I thought this was the customery charge for "still water" for a high end restaurant. I come to find out after telling the story with some friends we were travelling with that we should have been offered tap water as an option. Being from the States, we had never come across this. We ordered still water assuming that there would not be a charge unlike ordering sparkling water. The server should have made this clear that there would be a charge for the "bottled still water." I find it reprehensible that we had to pay 40 francs for still water that we should not have had to pay.
