Good restaurant and service, I do think that either the tap water, or the bread should be free. If not, people just leave a smaller tip ! My lobster was a bit overcooked, so the meat was a bit dry and shrunken. Otherwise good. Nice to have the bottomless fries.

The fillet steak and mushroom sauce was perfectly cooked (medium rare) for all three of us who dined at Black and Blue. The waitress was very friendly, and helpful with the wine choice, allowing me to taste before selecting. While the restaurant was busy, we did not have to wait very long for our meals, and it wasn't too noisy either. The restaurant decor is lovely. I also order meals from the restaurant, which serviced The Pavilions/Toren Amsterdam, and those meals were just as delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We have been coming here for several years and have recommended it to people we know are coming to Amsterdam. That stops today. The place has changed and not for the better. They have economized on the portions, removed the salad that came with the meal, the service is pretty awful now, and you can’t hear yourself think with how noisy it is. They are packing in the tables so tightly you can’t get out if they seat you at the back, which we were. Clearly the accountants are running the restaurant now. This place’s time has come and gone. Sadly we won’t be back.

THE FOOD WAS GOOD, LOVE THE EGGPLANT SOUP AND I DONT EVEN LIKE EGGPLAN IT WAS THAT GOOD. THE STEAKS WERE REALLY GOOD AND THE PRESENTATION ALSO. BUT THE SERVICE WAS REALLY BAD WE HAD TO CALL TO GET THE PLATES TAKEN, AND GET NEW DRINKS, WE WANTED TO HAVE DESSERT AND MORE DRINKS BUT IT WAS HARD TO ORDER DUE TO THE LACK OF SERVICE.

Two years ago, my wife and her best friend celebrated her birthday in Amsterdam with a sparkler at her table. She passed away last July and we wanted to celebrate her properly as the first birthday without her. The hostess surprised us with a similar sparkler and it was probably one of the most thoughtful and moving acts of kindness I've experienced. THANK YOU Black and Blue for a memory that will be cherished forever!

Honestly the steak was what ruined the entire dinner. The bread was great and also the salad. The fries were average. However the steaks (both) were overcooked, tough, dry, and completely without any flavor. No sauces were offered. No employee returned after the food was dropped off at the table to see if everything was satisfactory. Had anyone returned, we could have asked if any sauce was available to counter the dryness and lack of flavor. Also, there were two men at the table next to us who were extremely loud to the point of yelling and were a constant extremely loud distraction. An elderly couple near us asked to be moved to another table. A young couple was then seated at the table the elderly couple vacated. After about 5-10 minutes they got up and left without ordering any food. The staff should have intervened as it was obvious to everyone nearby that they were ruining customers evening. Will not return.

We were greeted and escorted to our reserved table as per our request. The service and food was outstanding. Will visit again next time in Amsterdam.
