Amazing! The place and planters were grate, we truly enjoyed the ambience and dinner

Service was really poor. Three different waiters and no one seemed to care about providing a good service. When booking they ask about the ocasion of the dinner and then no one mentioned it throughout the night. Plates are considerably small for the price charged. Expected a lot more, really disappointed. Many better places to have a good dinner experience in Amsterdam, don't waste your time and money.

Jansz is probably one of the best Dutch restaurants in Amsterdam, if not the best. The decor, service and food were all 100%. The photographs may make it look pedestrian but this is definitely a restaurant to visit and enjoy

Jansz. Is in a beautiful location, and you enter through a former apothecary. The decoration is simple yet chic. Once checked in with the hostess, our coats hung, we walked around the kitchen to the main dining. The ambience is dark, sensual. It’s nice to watch the outside through the street level windows and listen in on other conversations. We started by trying to order a wine that the waiter knew immediately wasn’t available. He tried to come up with other suggestions. Recently, I’ve noticed a trend when this happens: they say, “…if you’re looking for something in the same price class.” This always sounds a bit judgy to me. Well, I found another wine that was more expensive but I know had a similar feel. The steak tartare was great. We also had a steak bavette with frites which was pretty good with the gravy, and a duck that melted in your mouth served with carrots. In general it was a good restaurant.

Fab house cocktail, delicious food and lovely wine.

We came here on a recommendation but were left feeling there are more interesting places to eat out in Amsterdam than what is essentially a hotel restaurant. The 12-euro dessert wine was a thimble. The beef tartare had tiny flakes of sourdough so I asked for some bread and was charged 9 euros for it. Service polite but slow.

Great food, very tasty and creative. Nice Ambiente and very forthcoming staff that found us a great table even though we were one more than booked

Food was delicious and carefully prepared. Attractive restaurant and very good service in a lovely canal area. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful location. Excellent service. Tasty food. We loved it. One potential caution: lunch took 1.5 hrs. So if you want a quick bite, perhaps tell the staff that ahead of time.

I went with some friends, food and service were great.
6.5
A tad disappointing. We were here last year and had a great meal which was why we returned. Things have changed. The service seemed rather amateur and the food was sub-par. We first ordered a glass of rose each and were poured a shamefully small amount. Quite absurd. When we asked for a second I did comment and a different server poured normally. We then had a Dover Sole each which was supposed to be served with beure noisette. It arrived slightly overcooked and floating in a sea of oily melted butter which was most unpleasant. I did ask whether the chef had any idea what beure noisette is supposed to be and was told that what was produced was what always comes from the kitchen. I suggest the chef might invest in a recipe book and learn to make a proper beure noisette. At 65€ a pop and with no vegetables included this was pretty unacceptable. We shall not be recommending this restaurant sadly. A shame since it is in a great location and was previously so good.

Food was excellent but the main course took a while to come.

We ate at Jansz a year ago. It was I best meal we ate in our 2 weeks in Amsterdam. Tonight it was awful. My wife ordered the sole. Same as she did last year except there was no salad with it or vegetable. It was completely tasteless and there was a tremendous amount of oil on the plate. For 65 euros that is ludicrous! My sea bass was also very mediocre. The spinach was soggy and drenched in a terrible sauce. No bread was served until I asked for some. It was one of the worst meals we had this year in Amsterdam.
