2/10I rarely leave negative reviews, but last night’s experience at La Canonica was poor enough that I feel compelled to share it so others can make an informed decision. We had a confirmed reservation for 9:00pm, yet on arrival we were told to join a long queue. It quickly became clear that the restaurant had accepted far more bookings than it could realistically accommodate. Having a reservation should mean something; standing outside waiting at that time of night completely defeats the purpose. When we were eventually seated, it was outside, despite the temperature being around 2 degrees. There were nowhere near enough heaters to make this remotely comfortable. Eating dinner in winter conditions like this is unacceptable and immediately set the tone for the evening. Unfortunately, the food did nothing to recover the situation. When it arrived, it was cold, poorly presented, and sloppy. It gave the impression of a kitchen under pressure and rushing dishes out simply to cope with volume

10/10The food was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was great. We visited on Christmas Day evening but prices were just the same as every day, and it was good value. Our waiter, I think his name is Marwen, was very helpful and attentive. Highly recommend.

7/10Service (1st came the salads and then the plates, they didn't take the empty glasses and plates unless we suggested to), kind waiter Matteo. Food (average amatriciana & carbonara, caprese average, lasagna up to decent)

2/10Tourist trap, food was terrible, tasteless and overcooked made in bulk. Rushed by staff in order to finish dinner quick and leave so the next guest can come in.

4/10Yes, the ambience is the one good thing about the restaurant. But the food was average at best and the servers were border line rude. I overheard that the lady near me was overcharged and sent her bill back so I was more careful about my bill. They did the same added 2 limoncello to our bill when we hadn't ordered it. So be careful and check your bills.
