4.5/10The Zermatt Kitchen Ascot has potential to be different from the run of the mill, over priced, so so la la meat-focused restaurants. The aubergine tempura started well. The cod, lobster, and duck were tasty but the duck was not rendered so it was chewy and a bit tough and the portions were relatively small so that we did clean our plates very well. Instead of sweet potato purée we asked for the fries and they were very good. The duck did have a special Shinzo (perilla) leaf garnish which made it very special. The service was friendly, however, our server was distracted by a visiting friend and perhaps that’s why he over charged us for our desserts which left a very bad taste in our mouths. There is definitely room for improvement.

3.5/10I have rarely taken time to write a negative review since I am a foodie and prefer to offer praise when due, but Zermatt Kitchen was disappointing all around. To be specific: 4 items were not available on the menu, the tempura batter was undercooked and still white and gummy, the roasted cauliflower was cold and mushy, duck breast was also lukewarm and skin not rendered despite a specific request to do so. The sweet potato fries were the only item cooked well. Our server was running the house alone and clearly stressed and strained when we communicated the issues. All in all such a shame because the menu and space have potential. Perhaps if the menu was priced more like a cafe and not mid to upper range then one wouldn’t feel let down as much.

6.5/10While the food that we received was delicious, the restaurant described itself a "sharing plates" type restaurant. Unfortunately the portion sizes were not large enough for our table of 5 to share. We left the restaurant still feeling hungry.

8/10The food was absolutely delicious, but the service unfortunately was lacking. It took a while tot take our order, than our main courses came out with the appetizers so we had to have them brought back. While we were waiting for our main courses we were offered dessert menus. When we let the waiter know that we were waiting for our main courses still he apologized, took the menus and went back. We had to wait quite a while to get our main courses as I'm sure they had simply forgotten to put them in. To their credit, the food was absolutely delicious and for that alone we would come back.

10/10Wonderful experience! We came here as a family with our 4 small children for brunch and had a wonderful time. The service was so warm and we felt very welcome. And the food absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!!

10/10Excellent food, service and location. Makes such a nice change from the usual cheesy food in the area. 29chf extra for beef with the noodles/salad was ridiculous though - doubled the price of the dish!
