On the starters, the raw marinated corvina was excellent, but to receive only four deep fried green beans for 7.50 euros was outrageous. The main course creamy pasta with prawns was bland with few prawns, again underwhelming, and any serious cook could easily do better at home. We were disappointed because the quality of the food at Mare, Avillez signature restaurant was excellent and prompted us to his cafe in Cascais. But there, in addition to mediocre food, one suffers that the establishment attends to a small gang of Glovo and Uber eats drivers hanging about with their mopeds right at the outdoor entrance, which kills the ambience as well as the service.

Excellent food, great service. They didn’t have the wine we wanted and the waiter suggested others which were similar but they didn’t use it as an opportunity to upsell which was nice. It was our second visit and we would definitely go again.

The servers were very lovely, catering to every need. Tried their lunch menu. The food was great, tried the beef carpaccio, loved it, and the dish of the day which was bacalhau with tomato rice. That rice was unreal, the acidity, the balance with the codfish. Chef’s kiss.

The steaks had been defrosted, you could tell. The muqueca sauce seemed like water. Finished the meal asking the waitress if they would serve this to Chef Avillez…The saddest is that it was such an iconic restaurant which I had so many good memories and now just seems abandoned…

My dishes were excellent. Fried string beans and spicy duck. Both excellent. My husbands dish was good( pork but not as imaginative as my dish. Our waiter was excellent, helpful and fun. The service was excellent. We will definitely add go back.
