The name changed from Taj Mahal to Delhi Darbar Cascais but the quality of the food remains top-notch! After going to the beach in Cascais, we always eat at the Taj Mahal (now Delhi Darbar Cascais). It's sort of a tradition. We've been coming to this restaurant since 2007 and it's always a place where we know we'll be welcomed (and remembered!). NB: The Rogen Josh was divine as always. This is an really excellent Indian restaurant, but only if you order well (more on that at the end). Last night, having learned lessons on previous visits, we had (1) the dull-sounding, but delicious, Chicken Curry, (2) prawn Jalfrezi and (3) lamb Rogan Josh. All were amazing and really tasted as if a different base-sauce was used for each, so each was unique. We will be back again, and again... Rules to successful ordering: Yesterday was our third time eating here, and there are two/three very simple rules to a successful meal (1) avoid all the starters, they are dry, under-spiced and boring (2) avoid any traditionally cream-based or coconut based curries, they really are terrible (the restaurant replaces these with flour/water alternatives, I suspect) (3) Order prawn not king prawn. The prawns used in their normal dishes are large enough

Good, but not as good as the meal two weeks prior; maybe familiarity? Maybe it just wasn't as good. The starters are all an absukte miss, just don't bother; not good on either visit. As well as a couple of great curries (the bland-sounding "chicken curry" being the best on each visit) we ordered a Korma this time and it was awful (flour-based not cream/almond). for our first visit we mainly had excellent tomato-based sauces, maybe this move to a milder curry also contributed to a poorer overall experience. Still good, and we'll go again and stick to their strengths, but just not quite good as our first visit this time.

It was adequete and was a decent amount of food. Good value for the price. The bathroom was a little smelly but that was likely due to sewage issues likely not on the restaurant. The bathroom area can use a bit of an upgrade but otherwise decor was good, food was pretty good, service was good. Stressing good value for the money.

This was a surprisingly good, even excellent, Indian restaurant. My son and I ordered 3 main-course curries to share; instead of them all being very similar in taste, having used the same base-sauce, all three were actually very different, and VERY good. I'd genuinely give this place a 10/10 were it not for two, very minor, disappointments; the onion bhadji and the wafer thin nan bread. Excepting these two, it was fantastic. My son's boring-sounding basic "chicken curry" that he insisted on ordering, despite my trying to steer him to more interesting options, was the stand out dish, with the King Prawn jalfrehzi and the lamb Rogan Jhost as very close jointly second place. We are already planning our return.
